Tips to Help You Win

This year we are having a soapbox derby.  It will take place in Wheatfield Development in Muff on Saturday August 2nd at 6:00pm.

So, what's a soapbox??

Each soap box will race against time (so there will only be one soap box on the circuit at any one time).  When one soap box has got to the finish line safely or has been removed from the circuit, the next soap box will start.

You will speed your way down a track from side to side down a hill through some tricky chicanes and then on to the finish line and your run will be timed.  A soapbox consists of steering plus brakes - no engine required.  Click on The Garage link on the left to get more info on steering and brakes.

Highway Code (Rules!)

·         The teams should consist of one pilot and up to 4 ‘pit crew’

·         Helmets must also be worn on race day

·         There will be no practice runs; every driver goes on the track once and that’s the run that counts for the race

·         Drivers must be over 16 years of age

·         Competitors are not permitted to throw anything out of the soap box whilst racing

When you arrive on race day you must check-in your soapbox and team so ensure you speak to a race organizer when you arrive.  To enter in advance or if you need any additional information please contact Emma at 086-2106201 or email us at mufffestival@mufffestival.com.
