On December 13th 2007 we held our first Christmas
Festival in Muff Village. It was a huge success with unprecedented crowds on the
night. With a minimal budget and an organizing committee of 6 people
there was entertainment on the night plus a very special visit from Santa.
The idea behind the event is to have an evening for the
community amidst the madness of Christmas with no expense to anyone on the
night itself particularly to parents at this expensive time of year.
Our evening is attempting to cater for all ages from kids to adults.
Last year on a very small budget we managed to put up a nice sized tree
and crib, obtain lights for the tree, provide light refreshments, have Santa
on hand, and provide various forms of entertainment - Carol Singing (Muff
Youth Choir), Rhymer's (Fahan Ladies Rhymers), DJ (and emcee Liam Atcheson)
and Muff Youth Accordion Band.
In order to make this happen there were countless
contributors and helpers - too numerous to mention but our huge thanks to
all who helped to make this such a successful event.
