We are always looking for volunteers to help with your festival. If you have some ideas or are interested to help out please contact us in any of the usual ways.
As mentioned there will be film crew around the village over the weekend...here is a bit more info about them:
Muff Festival to Feature in new TV series.
Muff Festival, and in particular the Muff Festival Queen competition is
to feature in a new television series to be broadcast on TV3 later this
year.
Mind The Gap Films, and producer Bill Hughes will spend 2 days filming
in the village over the festival as part of a series recording the
impact and importance of local festivals in Irish life.
As part of the series the producers are anxious to collect ‘home
movies’ or videos that people may have made over the years featuring
festival parades, baking competitions, fancy dress pageants, and most
importantly any footage of local Festival Queen competitions.
Mind the Gap Films want to show that these events have held an
important place in our culture for decades and if you have footage from
any time in the last 50 years, they would love to hear from you. Who
knows? The footage could be sitting in a box in your attic or under your
bed. It could have been captured by your father or grandfather, your
aunt or your older sister. These images will provide us all with a link
to our past that may not otherwise have seen the light of day.
It’s not just the Muff Festival the producers are anxious to see, so if
you have any old movies from any of the festivals in the area they would
be interested in having a look.
So if you think you have any of these events on film please get in
touch with Jennifer Healy/ Fran McNulty at 01 6624742 or on
beautyqueens@mindthegapfilms.com.
