A fantastic derby was held at our new course.  Hundreds of spectators turned out to watch the fun.  Below we've put the results of the time trials. We would encourage everyone to think about building a soapbox for next year's derby.  We have received alot of feedback and have many new ideas of how to improve the course and the event for next year.  If you would like any more information about this event please contact us at 086-2106201

The 4th Annual Soapbox Derby will take place again this year in Muff village on Saturday July 30th on the Whitehill road.  With an all new course, this year promises to be challenging and fun for participants and spectators. All racers are invited to parade their soapboxes on Friday July 29th at the Mayoral Parade.

This year we are having a Junior Soapbox event.  There will be two age categories: 8-12 year olds and 13-16 year olds.  The Soapbox Derby will begin at 3:30pm sharp and we would ask all Junior categories to be present early for registration and scrutiny!

The Senior event will begin after the Juniors are finished.

Give us a call on 086-2106201 if you need any information.

All teams will receive a trophy with special prizes for Best Soapbox and Best Dressed Team.

Good Luck Everyone!

So, what's a soapbox??

Each soap box will race against time (so there will only be one soap box on the circuit at any one time).  When one soap box has got to the finish line safely or has been removed from the circuit, the next soap box will start.

You will speed your way down a track from side to side down a hill through some tricky chicanes and then on to the finish line and your run will be timed.  A soapbox consists of steering plus brakes - no engine required.  The Garage has more info on steering and brakes.

Highway Code (Rules!

  • A soapbox consists of steering plus brakes

  • The teams should consist of one pilot and up to 4 ‘pit crew’

  • Helmets must be worn on race day

  • Drivers must be over 16 years of age (Adult Category)

When you arrive on race day you must check-in your soapbox and team so ensure you speak to a race organizer when you arrive.  To enter in advance or if you need any additional information please call 086-2106201 or email us at info@mufffestival.com.
